As part of our focus on life long learning and the nurturing of active and informed citizens Bowen State School has a number of innovative programs that enhance the school’s ability to provide the best possible service for our students. These programs include:

• Behaviour Management Program where appropriate and positive behaviours are reinforced, recognised and celebrated through a school wide program. Our merit awards - Smiley and Silver badges are a visible and positive reward for appropriate behaviour. Leadership skills (Gold badges) are also developed and encouraged by giving children practise in handling responsibility.

• Gifted and Talented Programs include Year Seven students undertaking Year Eight English and Science courses in Semester Two at Bowen State High School; Gathering of Whitsunday Talents Program in conjunction with Cannonvale State School; Gifted and Talented camps.

• Instrumental Music Program. Our specialist instrumental music teacher tutors children in a variety of musical instruments.
